About This Blend

The finest white tea, blended with hand-picked Nepali gob-chi berries and Himalayan chamomile. Gently aged in a French oak barrel for over 200 days at Rudd Estate. Infused with subtle oak and herbal notes, this refined collaboration reflects a shared respect for nature, craftsmanship, and Biodiversity+ Design — where purpose, provenance, and palate converge.

These social-impact ingredients support United Nations Development Programme and UN Women initiatives. The hand-picked Himalayan gob-chi berries highlight our collaboration with the women in the remote mountain village of Samagaun, Nepal, advancing opportunity, resilience, and recognition for their traditional agro-pastoral way of life. This blend also includes Himalayan chamomile, carefully hand-harvested by women in Malla Satinaugon, India. Resulting in a unique tea blend that supports biodiversity while strengthening local communities.

Together, these ingredients express a deeper intention behind the blend: one that honors origin, empowers its stewards, and brings a sense of place into every cup.

The 2026 Vintage

This rare blend began with a conversation between Rudd Estate winegrowers and TEALEAVES tea blenders.

Managing director Oscar Henquet and winemaker Nathalie Bath reflected on how flavor begins long before the cup, through the choices made in the vineyard and the field.

Those ideas sparked change.

Rudd Estate has long been committed to farming in harmony with nature, while TEALEAVES has consistently championed Biodiversity+ Design and socially responsible sourcing.

Together, the two houses applied their expertise as tastemakers into a living expression of care, responsibility, and refined taste.

The result is "Rudd Estate 2026 Barrel Aged TEALEAVES": a meeting of vineyard and tea garden, of thoughtful cultivation and patient aging.

We invite you to taste with intention. To notice what is in the cup and what choices brought it there.

Because small decisions, made well, can shape something extraordinary.

The Blend

This rare white tea is blended with hand-picked gob-chi berries from UNDP / UN Women-supported communities in Nepal, and Himalayan chamomile, then gently aged in a French oak wine barrel from Rudd Estate in Oakville.

The result reveals subtle oak, soft florals, and a quiet brightness from the wild berries.

A collaboration shaped by the shared craft of vineyard and tea garden—where purpose, provenance, and palate meet.

Exquisite Taste Begins in the Soil

Great wine and great tea share the same beginning: the soil.

Long before harvest, choices are made: How the land is tended. How biodiversity is encouraged. Whether cultivation works with living systems, or against them.

When growers care for the health of the ecosystem- the microorganisms in the soil, the plants between rows, the balance of the environment over time- the harvest reflects it. Depth emerges. Structure feels more complete. Character develops.

This shared philosophy led Rudd Estate to deepen its stewardship of the land, preserving it for future generations while allowing the terroir to reach its full potential, while TEALEAVES expanded sourcing to ingredients that support biodiversity and community resilience.

The barrel selected for this vintage once held the 2021 Rudd Oakville Estate Red wine made from grapes grown with the same care for the land. As the white tea rested within its oak staves, it absorbed more than aroma. It carried forward a subtle imprint of place, a meeting of land, time, and human attention.

Craft, here, is not separate from nature. It is a continuation of it.

Tea Meets Oak

As the tea rests within the barrel, the partnership becomes tangible. A quiet dialogue between leaf and oak.

Over 200 days, the wood offers what it has held — warmth, the memory of fruit, and a fine mineral structure — while the tea leaves respond by accepting these notes while maintaining their own character.

Regular evaluations guide the process. Subtle adjustments in temperature and humidity gently shape the conversation between wood and leaf.

Patience is rewarded. In the cup, the liquor pours pale gold.

The aroma rises first: gentle wood, orchard skin, and a faint floral lift from the white tea. On the palate, the texture feels rounder than expected; a quiet structure supports the softness of the leaf. Subtle tannin appears toward the finish, extending the experience and allowing the notes to linger.

A Continuing Partnership

Since 1996, Rudd Estate has cultivated its vineyards in Napa Valley with a commitment to nurturing the land and expressing its terroir.

For more than two decades, TEALEAVES has advanced botanical craft through precision blending, cultural reverence, and innovation in tea.

Together, this partnership reflects a shared language of harvest, patience, and place.

Our first vintage began the conversation. This second deepens it. An invitation to infuse change — and to become a changemaker.
