  • Description
Ti Kuan Yin, Guanyin, or Iron Goddess of Mercy is one of the most prized oolong teas. A dark, fermented oolong grown in southern Fujian Province in the high-elevation Inner Anxi County, this oolong is wrapped in cloth and rolled into tight, compact balls (that are often seen as "iron-like").
  • Palate
    Aroma: Golden orchid, slightly woody.
Palate: Medium smooth floral taste, malty finish.
Notes: High complexity and medium caffeine.
  • Ingredients
      Estate oolong tea.

Oolong teas undergo a partial oxidation, which can vary from 10-80% depending on the style of tea in each region to the wishes of the tea maker. This broad oxidation range brings a remarkable number of delicious teas with a range of styles and flavours.

The original name for oolong - wulong - translates into Dark or Black Dragon, a title once bestowed on the large, bulky dark tea leaves from the Wuyi Shan in China. There is also a possibility that the name was given in honour of the teas shaped to resemble the silhouette of the mystical Chinese dragon.
