Vancouver based luxury tea company Tealeaves recently collaborated with global color authority Pantone to launch an online exhibition that showcases the influence color has on food and drinking experiences. The exhibit, titled PaletteForYourPalate, profiles Tealeaves’ newly redesigned Whole Leaf Pyramid Teabag collection alongside displays of tea-infused creations by 34 world-renowned culinary, pastry and mixology artists.
The exhibit is supplemented with a documentary that explores the power of color to elicit emotions and convey stories. The documentary features some of the top minds in design and innovation including Co-founder of OPI Suzi Weiss-Fishmann, and former Innovation Director at Nike, Dave Schenone.
Laura Sutherland CEO of Tealeaves expressed that the collaboration and online exhibition came from the company’s desire to create an elevated experience for customers, using color to create a deeper more emotional connection.
Many culinary and mixology artists have used tea in their recipes for years to add a unique dimension of flavor, texture and aroma. The PaletteForYourPalate exhibit challenged chefs and mixologists to create a recipe inspired by Tealeaves Whole Tea Leaf Pyramid Teabag collection, PANTONE Colors and their associated, single mood. The final color for each of the cocktails, entrees and desserts were all derived from natural ingredients alone.
The exhibit is a celebration of the remarkable talents in the culinary and beverage industries that has resulted in the creation of beautiful works of art. The online exhibit features the feeling inspired by each drink or dish, the Pantone chip associated with the creation, along with notes and an audio description from the chef.
PaletteForYourPalate culinary, pastry and mixology creations will be available on the menu of various luxury hotels and establishments across the United States and Canada. A full list of venues can be found here.
