Top-grade, high-mountain oolong tea from Formosa flavoured with natural essential oils of Bartlett pears, creating a sweet and delicious cup.

As I walk through the pear orchard with my cup of tea, I pick up a fallen pear and bite into it. The juices drip into my tea. I take a sip and the gentle sweetness of the pear juice balances well with the floral green notes of the oolong. My newfound tea.

Oolong has been highly revered in China for centuries. To tea lovers and aficionados, these sophisticated teas represent the pinnacle of much that is exotic and captivating about Chinese tea.

Oolong teas undergo a partial oxidation, which can vary from 10-80% depending on the style of tea in each region to the wishes of the tea maker. This broad oxidation range brings a remarkable number of delicious teas with a range of styles and flavours. Our Pear Oolong is lightly-oxidized and hence on the fruity and aromatic side.

The original name for oolong – wulong – translates into Dark or Black Dragon, a title once bestowed on the large, bulky dark tea leaves from the Wuyi Shan in China. There is also a possibility that the name was given in honour of the teas shaped to resemble the silhouette of the mystical Chinese dragon.
