Legend has it that hundreds of years ago, farmers of Hangzhou region were suffering from a long, desperate drought. Praying for rain, they discovered a great dragon near a spring on the hillside. The farmers implored the dragon to come to their rescue, and soon after, clouds formed over their fields and the rains emerged. The temple adjoining the legendary spring is known as "Dragon's Well Monastery" and thus, the derivation of the name for
Lung Ching – Dragonwell.
This specific harvest is 1st grade and of the utmost quality. In the ancient Chinese grading system, the top three grades are the most tender, unopened buds, and these young leaves are meticulously picked with skilled fingers. The leaves are then carefully watched as they are pan-fired in large woks to yield their distinctive green appearance.
