FRENCH NAME oolong impérial
BLEND NO. 5008
We make our Imperial Oolong using Tung Ting ("Frozen Summit") varietal oolong leaves, which is largely grown in the ancient mountains of San Lan Shih in Taiwan, at up to 2000m elevation along steep slopes. The tea gardens in this region were originally brought to Taiwan by scholar Lin Fong Chi from Wuyi, Fujian province in the 18th century.
Reflecting our internal belief that oolongs should be lower fermentation (greener), this oolong undergoes a short fermentation to refine the flavor and orchid character. Grown at 800m elevation, the Tung Ting region is usually covered by fog and clouds, which facilitates concentration of flavor.
