How do we know our Human Resources strategy is on the right track?
Lets ask for feedback!
"We are a team, working together to make the company better, faster and stronger – everyone supports each other in personal growth and development."
- S. S.
ubc commerce | spring-summer 2014
From day one, I was given high impact projects that would directly contribute to the success of the company's supply chain. I received a tremendous amount of mentorship and coaching from my colleagues, which has allowed me to reach my full potential and go above and beyond my capabilities. Interns are expected to actively participate in round table discussions regarding high level strategy and planning. It is unique to find a company filled with only smart, motivated and talented employees. We are a team, working together to make the company better, faster and stronger – everyone supports each other in personal growth and development.

My 8-month co-op term has truly been invaluable and has completely changed my mentality and the methodologies used in my daily life. I have learned to deeply think about issues from every different angle and have had the opportunity to truly make an impact. I love the fast-paced, east coast culture and would highly recommend it to students wanting to grow and develop their careers.
"No coffee runs to be made here—Tealeaves’ internship program puts its interns’ professional growth first."

SFU SIAT | SUMMER-FALL 2013
As a creative intern, my time at Tealeaves provided me a wonderful opportunity to work with a luxury brand in a learning and growth-oriented environment. I appreciate Tealeaves' approach of getting their interns into the mix quickly; unlike internships at many other organizations, the projects I took on weren't just there to keep me occupied, they were meaningful contributions with real deadlines and real impact for the company and its clients. The team was very helpful and my input and suggestions during discussions were valued. The experience grew and nurtured my production, presentation, and organizational skills far more than I could have ever hoped. I took away that this is a company with a high-calibre intern program, where interns are viewed as quality investments..
"tealeaves is a personal experience. the passion, quality, technique, and inspiration of its founders."
- A. D. R.
sfu siat | summer-fall 2013
Tealeaves is a persona; the passion, quality, technique, and inspiration of its founders. Once I felt who that persona was, the rest seemed to fall into place. For a designer, Tealeaves teaches accountability, requiring honed technical skills, strict deadlines, but predominantly the ability to design for its executive vision. Interns need to be prepared to have dozens of inputs thrown at them, at a rapid speed, and innovatively continue the momentum, for critical analysis of a highly intellectual office.
“Nowhere will you find a company that mentors its interns to such a high degree.”
- L. W.
UVIC LAW SCHOOL | SUMMER 2012
If you’re looking for a high impact environment to challenge your aptitude, APPLY concepts to real-life projects, and seek invaluable and personalized career development, then Tealeaves is THE best place to work. Expectations are high, learning curves can be steep and perfection is mandated across all members of staff. Yet, I would not want it any other way as I have completed more projects at Tealeaves than all other work experiences combined.

" Limitless opportunities to do something wickedly awesome and really make it your own."
- P. M.

UBC Commerce | Spring 2014

Take a 20-year old established luxury brand and toss it with an entrepreneurial culture, not dissimilar to the quick pace and innovations of a start-up and what do you get? Limitless opportunities to do something wickedly awesome and really make it your own. And I really mean that!

At Tealeaves I got to work on things I would have never imagined an intern would get the chance to do. I'm proud to say that I was able to impact the brand by pioneering their consumer marketing strategy, and I didn't expect to be able to do that kind of work until at least 10 years into my career, let alone between semesters while I was still in school.

The work environment is that of a meritocracy. If you're smart and you work hard be assured you will be recognized for it. The concept of being "just an intern" is absolutely foreign here, so leave that mindset at home. Your opinion matters and yes, a lot will be expected from you, so be ready to get to work!

This is a company that moves forward through the drive and appreciation of its quality product. Once learned, I realized that for a luxury brand such as Tealeaves, a designer’s responsibility is instilling that company’s persona into whatever designs they produce, just as a designer does for their individual portfolio.

" Progress is made at breakneck speed, and all hands are on deck: this is not an internship for the fainthearted."
- E. P.

UBC Commerce | Spring-Summer 2013

My internship at Tealeaves changed my life. My metamorphosis was drastic: from a passive bystander to active controller and achiever. My coaches held me accountable to an expectation of excellence and taught me how to analyze, strategize, and create the change I want to see in my life. Progress is made at breakneck speed, and all hands are on deck: this is not an internship for the fainthearted. All work is meaningful, for the betterment of the company, and all-consuming.

Nowhere else do students have an opportunity to contribute firsthand to the advancement and development of a successful company, make decisions, and implement change. When I gave a presentation on the work I did this summer, all the students were dying to know more about this company. I can tell you firsthand that Tealeaves' is the ultimate internship program: you will never fetch coffee! Take the plunge, challenge yourself, and constantly develop new standards of excellence for yourself and those around you.

" Everyone is passionate about what they do and the work is intense. Efficiency and accuracy are crucial in this environment."
- S. C.

UBC Commerce | Fall 2012-Summer 2013

If you’re looking for a high impact environment to challenge your aptitude, apply concepts to real-life projects, and seek invaluable and personalized career development, then Tealeaves is THE best place to work. Expectations are high, learning curves can be steep and perfection is mandated across all members of staff. Yet, I would not want it any other way as I have completed more projects at Tealeaves than all other work experiences combined.

Pursuing a career in supply chain management, I was given the rare opportunity to consolidate their entire business order process design which has been the most difficult and most rewarding project I’ve undertaken during my stay. Tealeaves has armed me with the skills, values and experiences that I will need to pursue my ambitions after graduation and I will never forget my mentors at Tealeaves who have taught me much about work, life and passion.

" The company focuses on process – from how you perform daily tasks in your life to the methodology of company procedures"
- K. L.

UBC Commerce | Fall 2012-Spring 2013

My internship experience at Tealeaves has brought about a whole new love for task lists with time deadlines – working in this challenging environment is all about balancing multi-tasking and being attentive to detail. I learned about the flow of goods and the many steps and challenges of offering luxury products on an international scale. As a part-time intern taking university classes simultaneously, my work at Tealeaves has aided my success in my courses due to the crossover between the learning experiences.

Internships at Tealeaves are extremely personalized – the members of the company help you develop your skills and provide challenging tasks that test your abilities and push you to excel. The company focuses on process – from how you perform daily tasks in your life to the methodology of company procedures. The unique opportunity to work at Tealeaves has elevated my knowledge on many levels- from understanding a complex supply chain, to using operational software, to forming an appreciation for craftsmanship and quality. The only easy part of the internship was drinking the finest tea all day.

" I’ve begun whipping out a pen and paper during dinner time to draw flowcharts for my plan of attack for everyday problems."
- A. C.

UBC Commerce | Fall 2012

An internship at Tealeaves is quite intense. It’s mentally tasking, and physically too from spontaneous appearances of treats. Every day is a whirlwind of different projects. Every project has its interesting moments. Although everyone is incredibly busy with their own work, people make time for each other and for the interns. The skills I have taken away from this internship include: persistence, re-evaluation of each task and being mindful of everyone I communicate to (not just in marketing initiatives, but also for internal team meetings, approaching a busy colleague, pitching ideas and working with different departments). It is strange to admit, but I’ve begun whipping out a pen and paper during dinner time to draw flowcharts for my plan of attack for everyday problems.

" Nowhere will you find a company that mentors its interns to such a high degree."
- L. W.

UVIC Law School | Summer 2012

My internship at Tealeaves has changed the way I think about business, and the world in general. Nowhere will you find a company that mentors its interns to such a high degree, that takes the trouble to really get to know you, your strengths, your potential and then pushes you to achieve excellence! I had the opportunity to work with the highly successful sales team at Tealeaves—I not only took away a great understanding of their sales process, but I was also coached on how to use SalesForce.com, an increasingly popular CRM sales tool. I feel that these skills, in conjunction with the invaluable feedback I received regarding professionalism, career focus, critical thinking, resume building, interview techniques, will put me in excellent steed for my future career.

" Tealeaves provides for its summer interns a mentorship program where you learn something every minute you are in the office."
- N. K.

UC Berkeley | Summer 2012

An Internship at Tealeaves is not just an internship. T provides for its summer interns a mentorship program where you learn something every minute you are in the office (and even when you are not!). A room full of passionate intellectuals, T begins by providing an optimal professional environment. The skills I take away with me are Microsoft Office, Critical Thinking, Strategizing for improvements, Working with members of different departments, attention to detail, etc. I not only take away these technical skills but I also take away priceless advice/feedback about my career, resume and the future I dream in the current workforce.

" I am forever grateful that I was a part of Tealeaves as the experience has only helped to fuel my drive and aspirations for my future."
- A. H.

NYU Sociology | Summer 2011

The environment at Tealeaves is truly something special; not only have I learned invaluable lessons on business, professionalism, and networking, I have also made many friends and supporters whom I still keep in touch with after my time at Tealeaves ended. The professionals who work at Tealeaves embody the balance of being forward-thinking, analytical, and innovative individuals as well as being personable and helpful teachers who invest time and effort into their interns. In addition to learning the logistics at Tealeaves, the company helped me to realize the importance of always improving myself through taking calculated risks, learning from mistakes, and always being one step ahead. I am forever grateful that I was a part of Tealeaves as the experience has only helped to fuel my drive and aspirations for my future.

" I have learnt that a good design needs to minimize the cost, maximize its audiences and reduce production risks."
- M. L.

Emily Carr | Tealeaves Associate

Being a brand and graphic design intern at Tealeaves is more than just challenging; knowing Adobe suite (like the back of your hands) is just the start. I also needed to be a multi-tasker and produce quality-designs, all the while meeting short deadline and high expectations. I learnt how to apply my design knowledge into the realistic (somewhat cruel) world. I not only take away practical experiences and valuable advice but I also know that design is never a one-man job. At Tealeaves, I have learnt that a good design needs to minimize the cost, maximize its audiences, and reduce production risks, to strike best sales, to be able to last for a long time. All these priceless experiences I learned from Tealeaves are accomplishments that I know will make me more competitive in my design career in the future.
