EARL GREY À JASMIN
French Underline
Previous    Next"
An exquisite blend of black and green tealeaves, perfumed with jasmine and accented with blue cornflower petals.

Our field of beautiful jasmine flowers remained visible long after other colours have faded into the shadows. The fragrance is intoxicating after dusk. We pick these golden jasmine blossoms at night to start the imperial method of scenting in the morning using freshly harvested tea and just a touch of bergamot oil.

With this tea, we've successfully blended the taste of jasmine with the citrus-like flavour of bergamot to produce a classic Earl Grey with an unexpected twist. Blue cornflower petals add visual interest and at the same time deepen the floral tinge.

"The vast flavour profiles that Tealeaves offers are unparalleled. I use their Jasmine Earl Grey for bonbons and also Chamomile Flowers for a chamomile cream on a rhubarb soup." - ICON Johnny Iuzzini

MASTER BLENDER TASTING NOTES
Master Blender Tasting Notes Underline
Our Master Blender intended this blend to have jasmine's natural scent and the bergamot oil harmoniously blended, with the sweetness of jasmine leading, followed by a wondrous citrus character.

The type of bergamot oil used in an Earl Grey blend makes an immense difference. Natural bergamot essential oil has a more subtle, but well-defined, flavour with zest and a genuine citrus intensity; conversely, synthetic bergamot is more one-dimensional, having a tendency to taste timid in the cup. The former is what we have always chosen to use at Tealeaves.
